Most memorable holiday

My good friend Inga and I wanted to do something special and memorable for our upcoming 30th birthday. We had been working hard all year and decided that going away for a relaxing time somewhere exotic would be the perfect way to bring in this new decade of our lives. Inga was in Europe at the time at some or other convention and I was depressed at doing the same thing all the time and that was when we decided to book our trip to Zanzibar. We decided to go for a week and wanted to just relax and have fun. The idea was not to think about work at all and bring in the new era of being 30 and fabulous. We stayed in the south east of Zanzibar and had the time of our lives.

Welcome to Zanzibar

Inga getting ready to enjoy the R&R
Our home for the next week. We chose this place because
of the young trendy vibe that we could relate to
Massage parlour

That is what the massage parlour looks like from outside
and that is all you wanna do after that...and that is
where i stayed

sipping on mock tails

Late night dips!!

Breath taking views
We visited Stone Town and did some sightseeing with scooters around the island, swam with dolphins, snorkeled in the most amazing clear blue sea water and partied with the locals on the beach front and of course did some local dining and shopping . All in all the most relaxing holiday that I have had. I was ready to welcome the big 3-0 and look forward to the years ahead. Happy birthday to us!!!

The dhow - boat like structure still in operation in Zanzibar

Stone Town
Locals in Stone Town, i was fascinated with their doors
and its craftsmanship
Tour of the Spice Farm  - look at out intensity at trying to
figure out the different spices
And the locals made us hats out of leaves. LOL
and of course we shopped

we tried the local means of transport and had so much fun -
i broke my flip flops on this attempt!!
and the next day we hired scooters and travelled
around the island
After falling thrice and badly bruising myself, i was so ready!!
Cant you tell???LOL

Looking good my friend
Look at the shades of blue in the background and clearly
i love this place
and this was my attempt at taking an I LOVE ZANZIBAR pic
of Inga:) ooops!!

Snorkelling with the dolphins, who are not visible in this
pic but believe me we wake up really early to swim with them
(ask Inga)

and then as daylight broke and the dolphins
disappeared we continued to snorkel

as nightfall broke we spotted a club that was playing
really cool music and broke it down with the locals
- kickass party
Food night market in stone town
