Theatre of dreams

On Sun 7 April 2013 I had a taste of what Dorothy from Wizard of Oz felt like when she clicked her heels and was transported into a magical world...I was transported into the land of Madame Zingara.
Welcome to Madame Zingara

One of my good friends wanted to celebrate her birthday the Zingarian way and was disappointed when she could not get a booking to the most talked about show in Cape Town this year in her birthday month. However when we finally got a booking, she didn't mind that it wasn't her birthday anymore because we partied like it was still her birthday.

I had heard that there was such a crazy vibe at the show - which is right up my alley - and took the opportunity to be part of the craziness.

We arrived before the doors had open and we were welcomed and entertained by a little preview of what was to come. The decor, the vibe and entertainment was unlike anything  you have ever seen. I was so glad I made the effort to dress up as accessories are available for sale at a rather ridiculous price.

This cute lady was seated in a carriage like cinderella LOL:)
Welcome drinks are also available on arrival and while sipping away on our cranberry slushy, just before the doors were opened, we were surprised by the parade of knights in armour officially opening up the show and welcoming us to our magical night. At this point the excitement was all over the place. When you view the tent from the outside you can hardly believe that it has so much inside. I was quite shocked when we were escorted to our table by the amount of people that could fit in the main area.

And the doors opened

We were not allowed to capture any pictures of the actual show but the following words describe the acts the best, MESMERIZING  OUT OF THIS WORLD, AMAZING, AWESOME, YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS SHOW AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!!!!
Some of my favourite were the Mongolian brothers performing great acrobatic acts that left you speechless, the Mongolian contortionist, the Russian (amazing abs) act, the bathtub girl, i lie all of the acts were my favourite LOL. I especially enjoyed the musical interludes between meals - great local performers showcasing their musical talents which were definite crowd pleasers.

Although the show was amazing, i have to comment and rave about the dinner that was served. We were given the run down of our 4 course menu  (the starter was a pasta raviloi dish - pic not available) by Aden , the waitress dressed up as a cat with tail attached to her:). She did an amazing job making sure that we received drinks, food, dessert all within minutes. All waiters were dressed up in various costumes and were whisking around the tent seeing to their guests who were being thoroughly entertained. While the show was on they were not allowed to serve you, so we ensured we had a drink in hand before the next act began. When the official programme ended at 11pm,  the stage was opened for the crowd to party with the hosts and waiters, and boy did we party. I even lost an ear ring whilst dancing away. yikes!!

Chilli chocolate steak - signature dish - you gotta try it
Norwegian Salmon on a bed of potato mash

Death by chocolate dessert

Getting our groove on

dancing next to Marc Lottering...ha ha

And finally on the stage!!
( i think that is where my ear ring might have disappeared)

i think i should get a job here -
I just could not get enough of the entertainment
thank you for an unforgettable night!!

I could never understand why people return back to the show whenever it is in town and I
now I finally get it. The entertainment, the show and the food leaves you captivated in the most exciting ways and definitely worth the price. I wasn't ready to click my heels to return back home.
